_____One of my later VAC posters, and one of my favorite lectures. Jean Lowe's paintings point out the absurd juxtaposition of luxurious imagery with shoddy, cheap consumerism that exists in our culture. She's also quite a nice lady. I hadn't gotten to hear her speak until after I made the poster, but her point came across quite well in the image alone, and I tried to design the poster to fit that. Glistening, elistist gold script immediately followed by a big-box price sign. Too much fun. Mouse-over for a detail of all the shiny goodness. |
